Q. Where are elections held?

A. Elections are held in the Community Room at the Altoona City Hall, located at 1303 Lynn Avenue. Election hours are from 7:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m.

Q. Why do I register to vote or obtain an Absentee Ballot?

A. Contact Cindy Bauer, City Clerk at 715-839-6092.

Q. Where do I pay my property tax bill?

A. After property tax bills are mailed in late December, any payments made before January 31 can be made at the County Treasurer's office in Eau Claire or at Altoona City Hall. If you pay on the installment basis, any second half payments made prior to the July 31 deadline must be paid at the County Treasurer's office.

Q. Who do I contact if I have a question on my water bill?

A. Any question relating to your water bill can be directed at Ann M. Lein or Sheila Lehnen. They can be reached at 715-839-6092 during normal office hours.

Q. I'll be moving soon. Who do I contact regarding a reading for my final water bill and forwarding to my new address?

A. Again, any question relating to your water bill can be directed at Ann M. Lein or Sheila Lehnen. They can be reached at 715-839-6092 during normal office hours.

Q. Who do I contact regarding building permits?

A. City staff can answer most questions regarding building permits and zoning questions, or contact Eric Velin at 715-839-5192.

Q. Where are the public schools located?

A. The School District of Altoona is comprised of three schools located on one campus at the corner of Bartlett Avenue and Seventh Street West: Pedersen Elementary (K-4), Altoona Middle School (5-8), and Altoona High School (9-12). They are conveniently located on one site.
