City of Altoona photo contest

Monday, April 1 through Thursday, May 30

The City of Altoona photo contest provides an opportunity to highlight the beauty and splendor that surrounds visitors to River Prairie each and every day with special attention given to River Prairie's feathered residents and visitors.

Twelve (12) winners will receive cash prizes of $50 each and one (1) grand prize winner will receive $200.

Brush Site Open

The City of Altoona Brush and Yard Waste Disposal Site is open from mid-April to the second week of November (dependent upon weather) on:

Weekly each Wednesday from 12:30 pm - 3 pm

Monthly on the 3rd Saturday from 10 am - 2 pm

Grab your lawn chairs, your coolers and all your buddies for a darn good time. If you like Kickin' It Country, check out Rock'n on the River in River Prairie on Wednesday nights at 6:30 PM!

Hundreds of people head to River Prairie to rock out every Wednesday night at 6:30 pm during the summer at the OakLeaf Surgical Hospital Amphitheater at River Prairie. Not only is there rockin' live music, there are also plenty of food trucks to enjoy and good times to be had. If you like Rock'n on the River, check out the other concert series at River Prairie - Kickin' it Country on Monday nights!
