The City of Altoona Announces the Altoona Frosty Fun Series

ALTOONA, WI -  The City of Altoona is excited to announce the Altoona Frosty Fun Series, a series of community events showcasing outdoor winter recreation opportunities. The Cities of Altoona and Eau Claire have been working collaboratively on the Wintermission Initiative to implement pilot projects based on community feedback that aim to shift public perception towards winter and get more people of all ages actively embracing social opportunities and public spaces during the winter. The Altoona Frosty Fun Series is possible due to a Cultural Arts Grant the City of Altoona received from Visit Eau Claire and the Wisconsin Arts Board.

Confirmed Altoona Frosty Fun Series events include:

  • Candle Light Snowshoe Hike
    • Location: Centennial Park
    • Date/Time: Saturday, January 18th from 5 to 8PM
    • Presented by CORBA, WNB Financial and Altoona Parks and Recreation

  • Frosty Toona Fat Tire Race 
    • Location: Big Pavilion in River Prairie Park, 1658 Bluestem Blvd., Altoona, WI 54720
    • Date/Time: Saturday, February 1st; Registration at 1PM / Starts at 2PM
    • Presented by: City of Altoona, CORBA, Stache Bike and Adventure, Shift Cyclery and Coffee, Scheels, Modicum Brewing and Spring Street Sports
    • Post Event Party and Awards Ceremony @ Modicum Brewing - 3PM // 3732 Spooner Ave, Altoona, WI 54720

  • Winter Glow Sledding Night at Jelly Bean Hill
