Participate in community-wide leisure programs/events offered by the Altoona Parks & Recreation Department. Two brochures (the Spring/Summer edition and the Fall/Winter edition) are distributed each year outlining the recreation opportunities available. The brochures are emailed out to all current participants in March and August, along with being available to view online below.
Reserve a park facility for your event.
Have your graduation party, family reunion, showers, or other events in a park! Reservations can be made at your convenience 24 hours per day, 7 days a week online or Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Parks & Recreation office at 1419 Front Porch Place.

** Altoona not-for-profits will receive a 20% discount on the River Prairie Park Pavilion rentals.
The Fish House

The Fish House is a new recreation/event space in Altoona City Park! The building consists of multiple rooms which range in sizes and capacities and can accommodate a variety of events, including graduation, retirement, birthday and other private events, corporate events and special community-based events. The Fish House is rentable online through the Altoona Parks & Recreation Department or by contacting the office and filling out the rental application. All room rentals will be subject to a 6-hour minimum with set hours or a full day rental (13 hours) 6-hour rental hours 9:00am – 3:00pm or 4:00pm – 10:00pm or full day hours 9:00am – 10:00pm. Tables and chairs are included in any Fish House Rental.
